Thierry Henry reacts to Arsenal's triumph over Everton

Arsenal legend-turned-pundit Thierry Henry was pleased with the Gunners' performance at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. The north London side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Watford in the previous outing, and they came up with the perfect response as they thrashed the Toffees by a 5-2 scoreline.

Speaking after the game, Henry admitted that the Gunners showcased a flawless performance on the field, and they could have quite easily doubled the scores, he said, "It was very good. Right from the start, obviously they conceded a goal early, but right from the start you could sense they were going to mean business today. If you’re looking from an Everton point of view, that’s exactly how you don’t play Arsenal. If you give them time on the ball and allow them to play like they played today, you’re in trouble. They scored five, it could have been five each half in all fairness."

The victory takes the north London club to fifth place on the Premier League table, and they are just behind Chelsea on goal difference with 16 points. Nevertheless, the Gunners are nine points behind table-toppers Manchester City, and they have a lot of work to do if they are to close the gap on the Citizens.

Thierry Henry has doubts over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's ability

Arsenal legend-turned-pundit Thierry Henry is unsure what Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is good at despite spending six long seasons with the Gunners.

The England international ended his association with the north London giants on transfer deadline day after he opted to join Liverpool in a £35m deal.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Henry questioned the attacker's motivations to join the Merseyside giants after he suggested that he could evolve into a better player under Jurgen Klopp, he said: "He spoke on the Liverpool website about that he could see Klopp making him a better player and that there's a love and togetherness. Are you telling us you didn't have that at Arsenal?" Henry said before Saturday's kick-off. Or are you looking forward to something else? He's saying that after an hour of training at Liverpool. You have to bring something on the table. I have been watching him for a very long time and I still don't know what he's good at."

The Gunners favourite believes that the Blues produced the best performance from an English club in Europe in the past five seasons.

Antonio Conte's men trailed 1-0 at the half-time break after Antoine Griezmann converted a penalty against the run of play. However, the Blues made the best of their dominance in the second period with Alvaro Morata levelling the scores whilst Michy Batshuayi bagged the winner with virtually the last kick of the match.

Thierry Henry questions why Alexis Sanchez would stay after Anfield thrashing

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has questioned why Alexis Sanchez would consider staying put at the Emirates following a lacklustre performance in the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool.

The Frenchman deemed the game as 'unwatchable' as the Gunners succumbed to one of their worst defeats since the 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea few seasons ago.

Both Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have shown no signs of extending their deals, and the former Gunners ace feels that the players are under no pressure to put in performances since the club is run with relative comfort.

AFRICANS IN AMERICA

African footballers made the headlines this week, with Ghana's boss making accusations of bias against an MLS referee, and DR Congo's Mabiala set to join the MLS in the summer transfer window.

Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah slammed referee Baldomero Toledo for using an indecent word against one of his players and also queried the wisdom of choosing a Mexican-American to whistle a match against Mexico.

Appiah ended up disappointed by several 'biased' decisions from the MLS Football referee which led to Ghana's 1-0 loss to Mexico in a friendly match. The penalty awarded against the Africans was seriously questioned as the striker seemed to have barged into John Boye instead of the Ghana defender, intentionally taking him down.
