Thierry Henry Rejects Any Criticism about Chelsea’s Premier League Win

Arsenal forward and Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry believes that Chelsea should not be receiving any criticism for the way in which they won the Premier League title this season.

There have been few disgruntled opinions after Chelsea won the league title following a 1-0 win over at West Brom. For large periods of the game, the blues were on top and even managed more than 20 shots in the game. Yet, it took the club a late goal from Michy Batshuayi in order to secure the league title with three games left. This game panned out as a close victory largely because of the West Brom’s defensive approach.

After the match, Henry says that he is absolutely surprised with some of the criticism that has come Chelsea’s way for winning many of the games with a 1-0 score.

The former Arsenal striker says that it is extremely essential to win certain games by a narrow margin rather than in a swashbuckling way. At the same time, he has also recalled some of the great goals that the club has scored this season, including the brilliant goal from Eden Hazard against Arsenal. Over the course of the 38 game season, he says that Chelsea have proven that they deserve the league title.

“It’s people talking nonsense sometimes. They’re strong at the back, when they need to score, they score. They have scored some brilliant goals. Eden Hazard taking the ball from the half-way line against Arsenal – what more do you want? That’s what a champion is supposed to do.Yes, they had five or six games when they won 1-0 but you’re not lucky over 38 games. The balance is right and you have to give Antonio Conte a lot of credit for that,” said Henry, who was a multiple Premier League winner with Arsenal.
