Thierry Henry thinks Lionel Messi can still improve

Former Barcelona striker Thierry Henry insists that Lionel Messi still has the potential to improve his overall game.

The Argentina international recently ended speculation over his future after he penned a fresh four-year contract with the Catalan giants. Messi has won everything within grasp with Barcelona, but Henry believes that the Argentine is still not at his peak form ahead of next season.

Messi featured for Barcelona in their pre-season friendly against Champions League finalists Juventus which they won by a 2-1 scoreline, and shortly after the game, Henry gave his opinion on his former teammate, he told Barca TV: "Now he creates a lot of goals and I think people do not talk enough about what he does for the team. Messi's development is not yet over, he's an incredible player."

Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have formed one of the most devastating attacks in European football, but there is a huge possibility that the trident could be split with Neymar the subject of a £196m move to Paris Saint-Germain.

When asked about the situation, Henry chose to remain coy on the speculation and instead praised the impact of the trio, he added: "The three guys up front are just scary. The way they play, with goals and assists to each other, it is very hard to stop them. When one is not scoring, people will ask why, but they have been amazing for a very long time and hopefully, for the club, they can also be successful."

Henry, who is now an ambassador for Barcelona, spent three years at the Camp Nou between 2007 and 2010, where he won seven trophies including two La Liga crowns and the prestigious Champions League. Despite his efforts, he will always be remembered as an Arsenal legend, where he is the club's all-time scorer by a fair margin with 228 goals.
