Henry Believes France Can Go All The Way

Thierry Henry reckons that France is capable of going all the way to the final in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

France is one of the few teams which are yet to be beaten in the tournament. Out of the three matches that the Les Blues played at the group stage, they won two, while, one was a draw.

The wins that France secured in the first couple of group matches were both by big margins. They found the net 8 times against Honduras and Switzerland together before being stopped on a goalless draw by Ecuador.

Talking to the anchor of a television programme yesterday about the French team, Henry said, “When the players represent their country in a tournament like World Cup, they don’t know whether they would be able to do that again. It certainly appears to be weird for somebody like me, who got the chance to feature for France in as many as four World Cups, to make this statement, but, it’s like that. So, as a player, you should take every World Cup as if you are not going to play this tournament again.”

“This French team certainly has got the ability to do well at bigger stages. They have got the potential and they should try their hardest to get to the final here (in Brazil) and then, lift the trophy by winning that.”

When asked about the good tuning between the players in the French camp, Henry said, “Well, when the results go your way, the bonding between the guys gets stronger and stronger. But, the real test of unity is when you lose.”
France’s next match in the ongoing World Cup is against Nigeria in the Round of 16. That match is scheduled to take place at Estadio Nacional.
